(MYSTIC) - The Simmons for Senate campaign today announced the endorsement of House Republican Whip Representative John Piscopo. The addition of Piscopo brings Simmons to 20 endorsements from members of the House Republican Caucus:

"Rob Simmons' extensive background on national security and the economy make him the best candidate to represent our Party in these challenging times," said Piscopo. "I'm pleased to join Rob's growing grassroots team in Litchfield County, who will join me in supporting his candidacy through the nomination and into the fall."

"I'm honored to have the support of Representative Piscopo," said Simmons. "He has been a strong advocate for his constituents and a great leader for our state. I welcome their support and counsel as we continue to expand our team across the state."

Representative Piscopo serves the communities of Burlington, Harwinton, Litchfield and Thomaston.  Rep. Piscopo has served as a House Minority Whip, the third-highest ranking leadership position within the House Republican caucus, since 1997. He was reappointed to the leadership position for the 2009 - 2010 legislative sessions.
